1. Who we are
TheTradeLoop ("we," "us") operates thetradeloop.io, a trading journal application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address (used for login and account communication)
- Password (stored securely as a hash — we never see or store your actual password)
- Your chosen journal display name
Trading data you enter or import
- Trades you log manually or import from broker CSV files (ticker, entry/exit prices, quantity, dates, notes, screenshots you attach)
- Trading accounts you create (names, types, starting balances)
- Daily notes, custom setups, and personal trading rules you define
Waitlist information
If you join our waitlist before creating an account, we collect your email address to notify you about access and product updates.
Automatically collected information
Our hosting and infrastructure providers (see Section 4) may automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and access timestamps for security and reliability purposes. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell this information.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the journal (storing and displaying your trades, accounts, and analytics)
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To send account-related emails (signup confirmation, password resets, email change confirmations)
- To send waitlist and product update emails, if you've opted in
- To respond to feedback or support requests you send us
- To maintain and improve the reliability of the Service
We do not sell your personal information or trading data to third parties, and we do not use your trading data to train AI models.
4. Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to operate TheTradeLoop. Each processes only the data necessary for its function:

Optional AI scan feature
If you choose to use the optional AI trade-scanning feature, you provide your own Anthropic API key, and any screenshot you upload for scanning is sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's API using your key. We do not store these images or proxy this data ourselves, and this feature is entirely opt-in.
5. Data security
Your data is protected using row-level security, meaning our database is configured so that you can only ever access your own trades, accounts, and notes — not other users' data. Connections between your browser and our services are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
6. Your choices and rights
- Access & export: you can export your trading data at any time from Import/Export within the journal.
- Correction: you can edit or delete any trade, account, note, or rule directly in the app.
- Deletion: you can delete individual trades, an entire account's trades, or contact us to request full account deletion.
- Email preferences: marketing emails include an unsubscribe link; account/security emails cannot be opted out of while you maintain an account.
7. Data retention
We retain your account and trading data for as long as your account remains active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data and trading records within a reasonable time, except where retention is required for legal or security purposes.
8. Children's privacy
TheTradeLoop is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product develops. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
